Abbey Road Studios has opened entries for the fifth edition of its Music Photography Awards, with the final ceremony taking place at the studio complex in London on 24th September.
The awards are free to enter and open to photographers at all levels of experience. This year’s judging panel includes photographer Rankin, Nile Rodgers, RAYE, Maneskin frontman Damiano David and Kid Harpoon, Abbey Road’s multi award-winning Producer in Residence whose credits include Harry Styles, Miley Cyrus and Kings of Leon.
Roberta Bayley has been confirmed as this year’s ICON award recipient. The California-born, New York-based photographer is best known for shooting the cover of the Ramones’ self-titled debut album, as well as an extensive body of work documenting Iggy Pop, Blondie and the wider New York punk scene. Previous ICON recipients include David Bailey, Anton Corbijn and Jill Furmanovsky. “This New York punk has come a long way,” Bayley said on receiving the honour.
Eight open categories are available to enter, covering Festivals, Emerging Photographer of the Year, Music Moment of the Year, Live Music, Behind The Scenes, Portrait, Underground Scenes and a guest category marking 50 Years of Punk. Category sponsors include DHL, Adidas, Outernet London and Hydro Flask.
