AJ Tracey has released a new single, ‘3rd Time Lucky’, ahead of his third studio album, Don’t Die Before You’re Dead, set for release on 13th June.
The track is a tribute to his mother, reflecting on the challenges they faced together and the strength they’ve drawn from those experiences. Tracey describes the song as “about going through tough times with your loved ones, but coming through stronger at the end of it.”
Accompanying the release is a stop-motion animated video directed by LateMilk and Imbro, featuring hand-made puppets that add a visual depth to the song’s themes. In a philanthropic move, £1 from every purchase of the ‘3rd Time Lucky’ CD and keyring bundle will be donated to Maggie’s, a UK-based cancer support charity.
This single follows Tracey’s recent collaboration with Jorja Smith on the track ‘Crush’, marking their first joint effort since their 2019 hit ‘Flowers’.
Tracey has also been active on the live circuit, completing his “Not Even A Tour” run, which included a sold-out show at Glasgow’s King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut.
