Apple Original Films has just unveiled Bono: Stories of Surrender, a documentary event set to premiere globally on 30th May 2025.
This promises to be a standout experience, blending intimate storytelling with cutting-edge technology to bring Bono’s remarkable journey to life.
Based on the U2 frontman’s memoir Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story and his acclaimed one-man stage show, the film offers a candid look at Bono’s life, from his personal relationships and activism to the music that has defined his career. This is an up-close, unfiltered exploration of the man behind the legend.
What sets this project apart is the mind-bending visual experience. In addition to the standard Apple TV+ version, the film will also be available in Bono: Stories of Surrender (Immersive) on Apple Vision Pro, taking things to a whole new level.
Think 8K footage, Spatial Audio, and 180-degree video that places you right in Bono’s world. You’re not just watching him perform U2’s anthems: you’re with him on stage. It’s the next-gen of music documentaries, and it’ll be the first-ever feature-length film to grace Apple Immersive Video.
Directed by Andrew Dominik (The Assassination of Jesse James, Blonde), the documentary has the kind of powerhouse backing you’d expect.
RadicalMedia and Plan B Entertainment (Brad Pitt’s company) are behind it, and the production crew includes some serious Oscar winners and Emmy contenders. There’s a lot of talent in one room, and we’re here for it.
Alongside the film, a new edition of Surrender, the memoir, will drop with a fresh intro and an updated tie-in cover. Bono’s life story, warts and all, is no stranger to controversy and acclaim, and now we get a front-row seat to all of it.
For those looking for a new layer of musical immersion, Bono’s unfiltered, charismatic self-reflection promises to be a thrilling ride. Plus, with exclusive footage from the Beacon Theatre shows, you’ll be treated to performances of some of U2’s biggest hits.
