The new track ‘Inferno’ – a fuzzy, proggy number – was produced by Patrick Fitzroy, whose credits include PVA, Sorry and Katy J Pearson, to name a few.

It’s the first in a number of tracks set to be released in instalments, with the aim of offering insight into the band’s experimentation and the dynamism of their sound.

The track also marks the London quartet’s first new offering since their Dissolve EP in June, which they launched via a headline show at The Lexington – have a listen to ‘Inferno’ below.

Explaining the nine-track project further, the band’s vocalist and guitarist Jesse Hitchman has said: “Previously, we have released EPs in which there is some semblance of continuity retained across the tracks. The current approach is a move towards singles.

“The idea here is that this will allow for greater experimentation. To experiment means to create work in which the result is not pre-determined beforehand. Part of this move towards greater experimentation necessitates a wider gulf between the recorded music and the live aspect.

“When recording, the idea is not to limit what we put on record to stuff that we can reproduce live. Our plan is to try working with different producers, using different methods each time.

“The first singles we have coming were produced by Patrick Fitzroy, and were not recorded live like how we’ve done before, but instead have a mixture of sampled drums and recorded drums, guitars, bass and synths added after.”

“Part of this move has been motivated by a newfound influence of electronic music. The idea is not a direct turn towards electronic music but to experiment with ways in which the intersection between a live band and an electronic one can take shape.”
