Blossoms have announced their sixth studio album Songs From The Wedding Cake, due 2nd October, alongside new single ‘Meet Me In Love’ and the biggest headline tour of their career.
The album follows ‘Joke About Divorce’, shared earlier this year as the first single of the band’s new era. Recorded to tape with producer Shawn Lee at Tilehouse Studios in Stockport, the ten-track record extends the disco-funk direction of their fifth consecutive UK number one album Gary into new territory: the tracklist spans wedding-adjacent themes from ‘Husband’ and ‘Meet Me In Love’ to ‘Additional Driver’ and ‘Uma Therman’. Declan McKenna, a long-time friend of the band, contributes backing vocals to ‘Meet Me In Love’ and appears as a credited feature on ‘Additional Driver’.
‘Meet Me In Love’ arrives with a video directed by frontman Tom Ogden and featuring media personality Maya Jama. It is a warm, melodic piece of indie pop that sits comfortably alongside the single that preceded it, the band’s instinct for an immediately memorable hook as sharp as ever.
The arena tour that follows the album’s release is the most ambitious of the band’s career. The Royston Club support across all five dates. Fans can access a pre-sale by pre-ordering the album from blossomsband.co.uk, with general sale from 9:30am on Thursday 26th June.
