Bodega have announced their fourth studio album All Inside Aquarium, due 9th October via Chrysalis Records, alongside its title track as lead single.
The New York quartet recorded the album at The Nave, producer Matt Peel’s studio in a deconsecrated church in Leeds, spending a month and a half tracking live in the room together, a deliberate departure from the piecemeal recording approach of their previous albums. The album was then mixed in Brighton by Theo Verney, who has previously worked with English Teacher and Lime Garden. The result is Bodega’s most significant sonic shift to date: away from the sociopolitical post-punk of Broken Equipment and Our Brand Could Be Your Life and towards something Ben Hozie describes as “a late-80s, early-90s Stone Roses-meets-Jane’s Addiction thing, with more riffing and guitar solos.”
“I never thought of us as a post-punk band,” Hozie has said. “I just thought of us as a conceptual rock band. With All Inside Aquarium, the goal was: let’s go back to melodic tunes, let’s be more of a proper rock band.” The album also includes a cover of Bob Dylan’s ‘Slow Train’, the title track from his 1979 album, with Hozie citing the guitar solo as one of his favourite moments on the record.
Percussionist and vocalist Nikki Belfiglio spent five months from October 2025 to February 2026 building a miniature world inside a fish tank for the album artwork. Each object inside was handmade from wood, paper mache, clay, metal and paint, with references to all twelve songs on the record. The video for the title track, directed by Belfiglio, was shot inside a green screen set built within the same miniature world.
The title track single comes with a limited seven-inch pressing featuring vinyl-exclusive B-side ‘Since You Ask’. The band have committed to releasing each single from the album as a separate limited seven-inch with unique artwork and an exclusive B-side. A sold-out 100 Club show on 15th September and Paris date on 16th September precede a November UK headline run.
