The actress hasn’t appeared in a film since 2014’s Annie, but Cameron Diaz is now set to make a grand comeback with  action-comedy, Back In Action.

Many remember Cameron Diaz from films like Charlie’s Angels, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, Sex Tape and the underrated Christmas film The Holiday. And who could forget that she also lathered her fringe with semen in There’s Something About Mary? She’s practically comedy royalty.

We haven’t seen Diaz on screen since Annie in 2014, unless you count her appearance in Zoë Bell’s 2020 viral short video, The Boss Bitch Challenge. Diaz is, however, now coming out of her retirement to star in the appropriately named Netflix comedy Back In Action

Opposite Diaz will be Jamie Foxx, who has shared the screen with the actress twice before, in Annie and in 1999’s Any Given Sunday. Back In Action will be directed by Horrible Bosses’ Seth Gordon and production is expected to begin later this year.

The surprise announcement came via Foxx’s Twitter account where the actor shared a snippet of a phone conversation between himself, Diaz and Tom Brady. If you wonder what NFL star Brady was doing on the call, it’s to do with him retiring earlier this year, only to rejoin the Tampa Bay Buccaneers only 40 days later.

“I was talking to Jamie and he said you needed a few tips on how to un-retire,” Brady is heard saying on the call.

Diaz addressed her reasons to retire last year in a candid interview with Kevin Hart on his talk show

“Just, the management of me as a human being… Cameron Diaz is a machine. But for my personal, spiritual self, I was realising that one part of me that functioned at a high level wasn’t enough” the actress confessed last August.
