Casper Grey is back and bolder than ever. The Eastend-born renaissance man—beloved by your mum, your brother, your nan, and your best friend—has just released his latest single, ‘TRU’SAY’, on Kingdome Recordings. Grey, who seamlessly merges roles as a writer, rapper, actor, and designer, is on a mission to redefine storytelling through music.
With ‘TRU’SAY’, Grey opens up a new chapter in his artistic journey, delivering a raw portrayal of the human condition. He dives into themes of guilt, repentance, virtue, and sin, all familiar yet strikingly fresh in his hands. Grey’s background in British cinema, including a prestigious scholarship at Ashley Walters’ Kingdom School of Arts, shines through in his work.
“Revenge will punish you with suppressed guilt… Regret will punish you with suppressed shame. Choose your sin,” Grey says of the track, encapsulating its intense and introspective nature. The song straddles the line between rap’s edgy realism and punk’s rebellious energy—think Ian Curtis meets MF Doom. Grey’s delivery, often simmering just below boiling point, is as captivating as it is unsettling.
The accompanying visuals for ‘TRU’SAY’ are all self-directed and produced, inspired by the gritty realism of Jonathan Glazer and Ken Loach, mixed with the surreal paranoia of our internet-driven age. The video follows Grey’s character through mundane settings, reflecting a spiralling journey of revenge and paranoia.
In addition to his solo ventures, Grey is one half of the production duo Eastend Gravy, whose innovative sound was featured in Rihanna’s latest Fenty Hair campaign. He also co-hosts the bi-monthly club night Post Genre Party, a cutting-edge event that challenges musical norms. And if that wasn’t enough, Grey is a co-designer at Somitude, the creative force behind the striking album artwork for Isamaya Ffrench’s critically acclaimed debut album.
Stay tuned, as Casper Grey’s story is far from over.
