Edinburgh band Curiosity Shop have announced their debut EP, Bound for the Sky, due September 25th.
The EP follows early single ‘Crows’, released earlier this year, and was produced by Kasper Sandstrøm, who has also worked with Divorce and Do Nothing. It marks a step forward for the band’s core songwriting duo, Sonny Scott and Ruairidh Wallace, who formed the group after meeting at school and later moving to the city to study music, where they were joined by Yann, Duncan and Louis.
Scott has described the songs as spanning that whole period, from the uncertainty of the early years to a clearer sense now of where the band is heading. Wallace has said the record draws on music from before their time, filtered through what they listen to today, describing the result as “like a glimpse into the past.”
New song ‘Wandering Arrow’ is out now, tracing a shift from yearning for hope to actually finding it, backed by a performance video.
Curiosity Shop will play a UK tour this autumn.
Bound for the Sky is out September 25th.
