Dirt Buyer, the project led by Brooklyn musician Joe Sutkowski, has confirmed details of new album Dirt Buyer III, out 6th February 2026 on Bayonet. The announcement lands with new single ‘Get To Choose’, paired with a video filmed at the band’s recent DirfFest set at Substance Skate Park in Brooklyn. It follows last month’s standalone track ‘Betchu Won’t’.

Speaking about the new single, Sutkowski says: “This song is about feeling very alone in a situation I didn’t want to be in, but not knowing how to communicate that. It’s like being really, really tiny and screaming, but you’re too small and nobody can hear you.”

Sutkowski has become a steady presence in the US indie world, releasing two albums as Dirt Buyer while also appearing live with This Is Lorelei and sharing stages with artists including Horse Jumper of Love, Greg Freeman, and fantasy of a broken heart. His previous album Dirt Buyer II arrived in October 2023 via Bayonet and marked a noticeable step up, earning Stereogum’s Album of the Week.

Dirt Buyer III continues that progression. The core elements remain familiar, with Sutkowski’s acoustic and electric guitar work pushed by heavier production and sharper arrangements. The songs were written quickly during a turbulent period in his late twenties, as he dealt with alcoholism, relationship strain and family issues. He wrote most of the record in his bedroom, using songwriting as a way to express what he couldn’t easily say out loud.

He leaned into tighter structures this time, focusing on direct verse-chorus writing. The result is the clearest version of Dirt Buyer’s sound to date. ‘Get To Choose’ is the most immediate example, a hook-driven track built from a rough bass loop Sutkowski wrote during his lowest point.

Dirt Buyer III arrives in February with an 11-track run that blends grunge, emo and folk in Sutkowski’s raw, straight-to-the-bone style.
