Dora Jar has released a new single and video, ‘The Explorer’, alongside news of a European headline tour and a run of support dates with HAIM across North America later this year.
Directed by Clare Gillen (Lana Del Rey, Girl in Red), the video follows the alt-pop artist through a surreal Los Angeles landscape as she clutches a paper map and wanders toward the sea, a tongue-in-cheek nod to Dora the Explorer. The song itself is a gentle, glistening track that blends Dora’s signature dream-pop textures with acoustic warmth and a sense of emotional openness.
‘The Explorer’ is Dora’s first release since February’s ‘Lucky’, and marks a continuation of the world she shaped on her debut album No Way To Relax When You Are On Fire, released earlier this year. That record, which brought together previous singles ‘Behind the Curtain’, ‘Ragdoll’, ‘Timelapse’ and ‘She Loves Me’, featured a diverse cast of collaborators including George Daniel of The 1975, Rostam, and Ralph Castelli. It was recorded over two years in locations as varied as Poland, Alaska, California and Mississippi, where Dora reportedly helped build a “mud cob hut”.
After a sold-out headline tour last autumn and support slots for Gracie Abrams earlier this year, Dora’s new European tour kicked off this week in Amsterdam, with UK dates in Glasgow (10th June), Manchester (11th) and London (12th). She’ll then join HAIM across the US for their I Quit tour in September and October.

Born in New York and raised in Los Angeles, Dora Jar has steadily become one of the more quietly magnetic voices in alternative pop. She released her debut EP Digital Meadow in 2021, followed by Comfortably in Pain in 2022, and has since toured with the likes of Billie Eilish and The 1975. Now 25, Dora’s mix of playfulness, emotional clarity and experimentalism has earned her acclaim from Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Pigeons & Planes, The New York Times, and more.
