Elin Grace’s Saturday morning set at Truck Festival 2024 was the perfect antidote to a Friday night hangover. Taking the stage at half 11, Grace delivered a set that was equal parts soothing and soulful, instantly captivating the bleary-eyed audience.
Her raw vocal talent and heartfelt delivery were on full display, making it clear why this 20-year-old from Mid Wales is creating such a buzz.
Since the release of her 2022 debut EP, Bee Without Wings, Grace has been turning heads in the indie-folk scene with her signature style of quirky piano ballads and jazzy melodies. It’s no wonder she’s drawing comparisons to greats like Joni Mitchell and Laura Marling.

Opening with ‘Steps,’ a song that perfectly encapsulates the bittersweet transition from childhood to adulthood, Grace’s pure emotion and integrity shone through, leaving us in the audience rooted to the spot. She continued to charm the crowd with a selection of tracks that showcased her impressive vocal and emotional range, each song feeling like a whispered secret shared between friends.
The closing number, ‘Oxford Road,’ with its Lenka-esque sound and heartfelt references to her parents, was the emotional high point of the set. It evoked a sense of nostalgia and familial love that resonated deeply with the audience, providing the perfect ending to a beautifully relaxing performance.
Truck Festival is known for its eclectic mix of rowdy headliners and more reflective acts, and so this whole set-up provided the perfect backdrop for Grace’s intimate set. Amidst the controlled chaos of the festival, her music offered a peaceful oasis, showing that sometimes the best way to start the day is with a little bit of soul-soothing folk.
