Gia Ford has shared new single ‘I Guess My Time Has Come’ via Chrysalis Records, the Sheffield-born singer’s first release since ‘How Do I Reply?’ earlier this year.
The track traces the arc of falling for someone: an opening that sits in uncertainty and self-doubt before breaking into something considerably more expansive. It is a structure that suits Ford’s voice, which carries both the reticence of the opening and the warmth of the release without straining either.
“There’s a feeling at the very beginning that the protagonist is a little glum and unmoored,” she has said of the song. “Then it changes.”
Ford released her debut album ‘Transparent Things’ in 2024 via Chrysalis Records, having previously released material on Dirty Hit. The album built on the atmospheric alt-pop of her early mixtapes and toured extensively in its wake. Singles ‘God’ and ‘How Do I Reply?’ followed, and ‘I Guess My Time Has Come’ continues that run of standalone releases ahead of an autumn headline tour.
She plays London’s Camden Assembly on 20th October. Further tour dates are expected to be announced.
