Greentea Peng has just shared ‘Stones Throw,’ the latest track from her upcoming album Tell Dem It’s Sunny, out 21st March.
It captures the complexities of a fading relationship, its bittersweet tone evoking a strong sense of emotional struggle, whilst the accompanying music video, shot in Latvia and directed by ABOVEGROUND, complements the song’s emotional weight.
The visuals offer an artful combination of intense close-ups and wide-angle shots, enhanced by fish-eye lenses and long-distance zooms. It’s clear that this video was made with a particular vision in mind. ABOVEGROUND reflects, “As soon as I heard the song I had a feeling that we’d be taking the video production close to home in Eastern Europe… Everything just ticked the boxes.”
The team shot for two days in the cold Latvian rain, and their hard work clearly paid off, as the video stands out in Peng’s growing collection of visual art.
The album’s first single, ‘TARDIS (hardest),’ introduced a new chapter in Peng’s musical evolution, with its low-slung beats and thought-provoking lyrics. ‘One Foot,’ the follow-up, showcased her unmistakable vocal style, with a catchy chorus that will likely stick with listeners long after they hear it. Produced by OCT8VES, the track was another example of Greentea’s ability to effortlessly fuse streetwise instrumentation with mystical energy.
With Tell Dem It’s Sunny, Greentea Peng continues her creative collaboration with some of the best in the game. Long-time partner Earbuds plays a significant role, and the record also features contributions from Samo, Nat Powers, and St. Francis Hotel, all of whom have been integral to Peng’s evolution as an artist.
Known for her magnetic stage presence and genre-defying sound, Peng is also preparing to take her new music on the road. Her Spring 2025 tour will see her perform across the UK and Europe, offering fans a chance to experience her soulful, dub-infused performances live. Expect an immersive and energy-packed experience, as Peng is known for connecting deeply with her audience.
