HAIM will join the line-up for BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2025, performing in Sefton Park, Liverpool on Sunday 25th May.

The Grammy-nominated trio are the latest act to be announced for the three-day festival, which already includes Sam Fender, Tate McRae, Mumford & Sons, JADE, Tom Grennan, Confidence Man, Lola Young, AJ Tracey, and more.

The event, which runs from 23rd to 25th May, is expected to draw over 100,000 attendees across the weekend. Tickets are free, available via the official Big Weekend site.

This year’s edition isn’t just about the stage line-up. As part of its outreach work, Radio 1 is teaming up with BBC Introducing and BBC Radio Merseyside to host open mic nights across Merseyside in the lead-up to the festival. The best local performers will feature in a special live show broadcast from the BBC Radio Merseyside studio on Thursday 22nd May.

Meanwhile, Radio 1’s Life Hacks and Newsbeat are rolling out a series of community panels from 31st March to 3rd April. Each panel addresses topics raised by local young people, ranging from career paths and creative industries to life skills, confidence and mental health. Local guests include Tarek Musa, Sian Davies, Arts Emergency and Ryan Hall.

Life Hacks presenters Lauren Layfield and Shanequa Paris, along with Newsbeat’s Eleanor Doyle, will host the sessions, which are set to take place in venues such as Shakespeare North Playhouse, Goodison Park, Carmel College and Future Yard. The panels will inform a series of Life Hacks specials broadcast in May.

“This year’s programme focuses on career and development topics that matter to our listeners in Liverpool and beyond,” said Aled Haydn Jones, Head of Radio 1. “It’s a chance for us to connect with young people and bring opportunities to local communities.”

HAIM’s appearance at Big Weekend adds further momentum to a festival that continues to blend high-profile performances with meaningful local engagement.
