Happy Mondays are reissuing their seminal 1990 album, Pills ‘n’ Thrills and Bellyaches, in a run of formats topped off by a one-of-a-kind gold pill edition.
First released via Factory Records, the album became the high-water mark of the Madchester era, pairing dance rhythms with indie songwriting across singles including ‘Kinky Afro’, ‘Step On’, ‘Loose Fit’ and ‘Bob’s Yer Uncle’.
London Records will reissue the album on August 21st as a 5LP super deluxe edition, alongside 4CD, 2CD, 1LP, picture disc and cassette formats. The super deluxe edition includes previously unheard live recordings from Elland Road in 1991, new remixes, and liner notes written by James Brown, former editor of NME.

The gold pill edition takes the form of a capsule cast from a bespoke dual-colour silk gold PLA filament, styled to resemble a solid gold bar. It’s a one-of-a-kind item, and the only way to win it is to pre-order any format of the reissue from the official store, with all existing pre-orders automatically entered. The winner’s name will be laser-engraved onto a bespoke gold-anodised aluminium card.
Pills ‘n’ Thrills and Bellyaches is out August 21st via London Records.
