Hinds have released their cover of Charli XCX and Lorde’s ‘Girl, so confusing’, marking the one-year anniversary of their 2023 album Viva Hinds.

A fixture in their live set throughout the Viva Hinds campaign, the cover has long been requested by fans. Now recorded in the studio, the Madrid duo of Carlotta Cosials and Ana Perrote frame the song through their own decade-long experience as a girl band.

“Everything about this song resonates with us,” they explain. “We have been a girl band for four albums now, more than a decade. A decade in a world that tries to put girls against each other, comparing everything, our bodies, our songs, our way of talking and existing. When this song and the feature with Lorde was released, it made history for music and for women. This is our take on it.”

The release follows a worldwide run of Viva Hinds shows and precedes a final victory lap of dates, including Brooklyn’s Elsewhere, California’s Ohana Festival, Chicago’s Goose Island Block Party and a series of Spanish headline shows in early 2026.

Viva Hinds itself was forged after a turbulent period for the band, which saw them lose their rhythm section, management and label, as well as significant touring revenue during lockdowns. Written by Cosials and Perrote – who call themselves “millionaires in friendship” – the record became their most adventurous and celebratory to date, featuring collaborations with Beck and Grian Chatten of Fontaines D.C., alongside their first Spanish-language tracks.

Their cover of ‘Girl, so confusing’ continues that spirit: candid, defiant, and unafraid to turn endings into new beginnings.
