Hollow Hand announce fourth album Wish Road South and share new single ‘Here Are The Tulips’

Hollow Hand have announced their fourth album Wish Road South, due 4th September via Loose Music, alongside lead single ‘Here Are The Tulips’.

The Brighton project of songwriter Max Kinghorn-Mills marks a significant shift in approach for the new record. Where previous albums, including the acclaimed Your Own Adventure (2023), were largely made in the tradition of the bedroom producer, Wish Road South was recorded live in a Brighton studio alongside drummer Oliver Newton and bassist Leo Clarke, the three of them tracking songs together from the ground up. “With three of us being involved from the beginning, and all invested in it together, it feels like a group effort, which is a new thing for us,” Kinghorn-Mills has said.

The album’s title came from a bus stop on the route Kinghorn-Mills took to the studio each day. “There’s this idea of searching for something,” he has explained, “looking for a guardian angel, trying to find your way and navigate to something that you feel pleased with.”

‘Here Are The Tulips’ was the track that unlocked the album’s direction. Built from an ode to summer’s rejuvenating energy, it moves between the melodic warmth of Love’s Forever Changes and modern British folk artists like Tunng and Espers, the live recording giving it an immediacy that Kinghorn-Mills describes as the decisive moment: “There was something about it feeling so live that was magical to me. I remember feeling so happy going home that day knowing that we’d found something. Things became much easier after that. We felt reborn.”

Since Your Own Adventure, Hollow Hand have toured extensively: serving as house band for Caitlin Rose, collaborating with Aoife Nessa Frances, supporting MJ Lenderman across Europe and joining Willie J Healey on his most recent UK tour. A full autumn headline tour follows the album’s September release.
