Humane The Moon, the rising indie artist from East London, is back with his latest single ‘Tear It Down’, set to make waves in the music scene. Known for his raw vocals and grungy instrumentation, Humane The Moon’s new track is a quintessential indie-rock sound, reminiscent of bands like Fontaines D.C., Radiohead, and The Strokes. Alongside this release, he has announced his upcoming second EP Debris Joice, due out on 13th September.

“The purpose of the EP is to broaden it and tear down what it was. Isn’t always a bad thing, it doesn’t always end in debris. It can light new fire and start rejoicing in it,” Humane The Moon explains.

‘Tear It Down’ emerged from an interesting creative process. “’Tear it down’ is sung from a pessimistic internal voice. Seems we all have that nauseating hum between the ears; you get used to blocking it out. So writing from that perspective was surprisingly cathartic. Puts some distance between it and you,” says Humane The Moon. He adds, “This song came about in the practice room and on stage. It’s the first one that’s been written like that. Doing it the other way round gave it some more freedom, I reckon.”

With its mellow indie feel, ‘Tear It Down’ highlights Humane The Moon’s isolated, raw vocal performance, complemented by melancholic electronic guitar and drum accompaniments. This marks a slight divergence from his previous work, showing his evolution as an artist committed to pushing boundaries.

His latest single ‘K9’, featuring Jeshi, had a grittier, angst-filled sound. While ‘Tear It Down’ retains those qualities, they are more evident in Humane The Moon’s evocative lyrics than in the instrumentation.

Wonderland Magazine notes, “Humane has developed a resonant sound that gracefully blends his signature grit with alternative-grunge influences.” With a busy year ahead, including new music produced by Dan Carey (Black Midi, Tame Impala, Fontaines D.C., Wet Leg), Humane The Moon is an artist to watch.
