The new EP lands 3 November via Method and will mark his first record project since 2021’s ‘Say U Luv Me’.

A hugely successful producer in his own right, Karma Kid has worked with the likes of Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard as well as some of the most exciting new artists, including Bakar, gglum and Mercury Prize-nominee Shygirl.

Last week, he released atmospheric new single ‘The Gates Will Open’, which is set to feature on the forthcoming project – have a listen below via the Nicholas Ferguson-Lee-directed video.

Describing his vision for the video, Karma Kid has opened up about a personal incident that inspired it: “One day I was riding my bike through the countryside in Derbyshire, listening to the song and I had the vague idea for a music video.”

“I wanted it to follow a male protagonist being stunted by toxic masculinity, pushing his feelings down with alcohol and anger and having some sort of forced spiritual awakening in a familiar setting. British realism meets surrealism.

“I went to one of my best friends (director, Nicholas-Ferguson Lee) with the rough idea. He ended up meeting Kieran Urquhart, an actor, in a pub and basically wrote the whole protagonist part around him after falling in love with his personality.

“He wanted the character to follow the hero’s journey and include pagan themes which tie into the folklore and history of Derbyshire where we grew up  We lost our friend Ezra in a car accident in 2016 and as a result of that, we wanted to show the struggles of young people going through grief and show both the ugly and beautiful side of our experience.”
