King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard are back with a new track and video for ‘Grow Wings and Fly’, the latest preview of their upcoming album Phantom Island, which drops 13th June via their own p(doom) Records.

The video, directed by Hayden Somerville, features Ambrose Kenny-Smith in a surreal, underwater setting that’s both eerie and beautiful.

The song itself, like much of Phantom Island, is a fresh direction for the band. It combines the band’s trademark sound with lush, symphonic elements, adding a new depth to their music.

The band’s already shared the title track – ‘Deadsick’ – with ‘Grow Wings and Fly’ continuing to show the range of their upcoming release.

This album marks a shift from the action-packed energy of their last album, Flight b741, with Phantom Island focusing on more reflective, emotional experiences and the personal growth of its characters.

As Stu Mackenzie puts it, the album is about “connecting with people” rather than just “freaking them out”.
