Brighton-based punk duo Lambrini Girls, comprising Phoebe Lunny (vocals/guitar) and Lilly Macieira (bass), have dropped their riotous debut album, Who Let The Dogs Out, via City Slang. Already causing a stir with sold-out April tour dates and a newly announced US stint, the record cements the pair’s reputation as one of the UK’s most unapologetic bands.

Dubbed “political punk perfection” by CLASH and a “no-holds-barred, sloganeering assault” by Uncut, the album pulls no punches. Opening track ‘Bad Apple’ sets the tone with sirens and blistering basslines, taking aim at police brutality with brutal clarity.

“You know how Fleetwood Mac almost dedicated Rumours to their cocaine dealer?” Phoebe quips. “I think we should dedicate this album to all the booze we bought at Tesco.”

The humour-laced rebellion doesn’t stop there. From skewering classism on ‘Filthy Rich Nepo Baby’ to turning disordered eating into a punk anthem with ‘Nothing Tastes As Good As It Feels’, the duo balance fierce social commentary with irreverent wit. Album closer ‘Cuntology 101’ is an unapologetic ode to self-love and authenticity. “Doing a poo at your friend’s house is cunty,” Phoebe declares. “Loving yourself is the biggest act of defiance in a world that perpetually tells you there is something wrong with you.”

Recorded in Oxford under chaotic conditions (48 beers, six bottles of wine, and a significant amount of Lambrini reportedly included) the album’s energy mirrors the band’s live performances. “Because we had such little time, I had this switch in my brain that just went, ‘I’ve got to let these songs be what they want to be,’” says Lilly.

Their April UK tour, already sold out in most cities, promises to bring the same intensity. Lambrini Girls are also gearing up for a whirlwind of international festival dates, from Truck Festival in July to Reading and Leeds in August.
