Lauren Duffus' new EP Can’s Gone Warm delves into atmospheric soundscapes and emotional depth.

London-based producer and vocalist Lauren Duffus has released her new EP, Can’s Gone Warm..

The six-track collection continues Duffus’ exploration of atmospheric soundscapes, combining elements of electronica, R&B, and ambient music.

The EP opens with ‘N.U.M.T.E.’, a track characterised by bleary synths and gasping vocals, setting a tone of introspection and emotional depth. ‘Super’ introduces experimental textures, featuring R&B-inspired vocals over trap beats, culminating in a climactic arrangement. In contrast, ‘Lewisham’ offers a stripped-back composition with piano, voice, and sub-bass, creating a moody landscape inspired by Duffus’ surroundings on Catford High Street.

The latest single, ‘Liar’, deviates from the EP’s pattern with an acoustic indie arrangement that builds in intensity through layered vocal harmonies. Written in the summer of 2023, the track addresses themes of loneliness and emotional cycles, offering a cathartic release.

Duffus’ music has been noted for its ability to channel complex emotional states into genre-defying compositions. Her previous work, including the 2022 breakout track ‘Habits’, showcased her talent for blending choral samples, glitchy synths, and cascading breaks. Since then, she has performed globally, including appearances at MUTEK Argentina and venues such as Fabric and Village Underground in London.

Can’s Gone Warm marks a significant step in Duffus’ artistic journey, offering a collection that is both accessible and emotionally resonant. The EP is available now on major streaming platforms.
