Luvcat has returned with ‘He’s My Man (The Anniversary)’, a haunting reimagining of her breakout single, now featuring the legendary punk poet Dr John Cooper Clarke. The single arrives ahead of her hotly anticipated debut album Vicious Delicious, due 31st October.
The unlikely collaboration came together after the pair met at this year’s Northern Music Awards, where John was honoured for his career and Luvcat took home the Breakthrough Artist of the Year award. “I was terrified to speak to him,” she recalls. “My dad was a punk and John’s work was spoken about a lot in our house. But he couldn’t have been sweeter. I think John is the coolest man in the country, and to have him play my poisoned husband for this song is a true honour.”
The new version revisits the eerie domestic world of the original track, shot once again in a thatched Enfield cottage. This time, the mood has curdled. “I wanted to make everything darker; riddled with the mania and paranoia of a chainsmoking housewife losing her mind,” says Luvcat. “There was actually a hornet swarm while we were filming – it perfectly matched the atmosphere. It was very fun to be John’s murderous mob bride for the night.”
Vicious Delicious promises a darkly glamorous debut from one of the UK’s most intriguing rising stars. Written between Paris, late-night studios and whirlwind romances, it fuses noir-pop, jazz, punk romanticism and gothic sparkle into something uniquely theatrical. “Its lipstick’s a little smudged and its stockings are a little torn,” Luvcat says. “It’s old-school romance slightly off its hinges – a pendulum between love and addiction, ecstasy and melancholy, eroticism and innocence.”
Since her explosive debut ‘Matador’, Luvcat has racked up over 35 million streams, sold out headline tours across the UK, Europe and the US, and been tipped as one of the Top 3 Artists to Watch in 2025 by Rolling Stone UK, Clash, Billboard UK and The Independent. With Dr John Cooper Clarke now part of her growing mythology, her world of danger, glamour and decadence feels more vivid than ever.
As Clarke put it, “They were looking for a potential corpse – why me???”
‘He’s My Man (The Anniversary)’ is out now. Vicious Delicious follows on 31st October via AWAL.
