Mac DeMarco is set to release Guitar, his new instrumental album due 22nd August.

Recorded in November 2024 at his home in Los Angeles and mixed later in Canada, it follows his 2023 ambient-toned release Five Easy Hot Dogs and the epic 199‑track One Wayne G.

The 12‑track set includes new single ‘Home’, a reflective indie‑pop ode about the emotional tug of home and belonging. Its video finds DeMarco canoeing near his mum’s new house in Canada; poignant visuals for a track he says he wrote in Los Angeles while thinking about home.

An established figure in lo-fi indie rock, Mac built his reputation on laid‑back grooves and charmingly loose guitar lines. His breakthrough came with 2 and Salad Days, which combined playful vocals with dreamy chord progressions. His more experimental leanings have been revealed through releases like Five Easy Hot Dogs, a minimalist instrumental journey, and One Wayne G, an exhaustive triple-album.

With Guitar, Mac says: “I think ‘Guitar’ is as close to a true representation of where I’m at in my life today as I can manage to put to paper. I’m happy to share this music, and look forward to playing these songs as many places as I’m able.”

Pre-orders are open now. A short UK tour is scheduled for November, including a headline show at London’s Eventim Apollo on 10th November.
