Mark Pritchard and Thom Yorke have unveiled their new track ‘Gangsters’, the first taste of Tall Tales, a full-length collaboration due for release on 9th May.
The pair, long-time admirers of one another’s work, have spent over a decade circling potential collaborations. Now, their shared vision arrives in full, with Tall Tales combining Pritchard’s stark, textured production with Yorke’s unmistakable voice and lyrical dread.
‘Gangsters’ offers a dark, writhing introduction to the project. Yorke’s vocal performance is full of hissed threat and anxiety, layered over Pritchard’s brutalist electronics. The track’s unease is heightened by a new video, designed by Jonathan Zawada, whose surreal and tightly controlled aesthetic extends across the whole project. Alongside the visual component, Zawada has also curated a 36-page booklet accompanying the album, featuring project imagery and lyrics.
In addition to its digital release, Tall Tales will be presented as an audio-visual experience screening in cinemas worldwide on 8th May. The full cinematic event will marry the album’s sound with Zawada’s visuals, building on the immersive world hinted at in ‘Gangsters’.
