Kraków-based artist Martyna Basta has announced a new album titled Winged In Collapse, set for release on 15th May via 7K.
A multidisciplinary figure whose work spans sound, composition and visual art, Basta has built a reputation for creating immersive, emotionally charged music that resists easy categorisation. Winged In Collapse continues that trajectory, pushing her sound into more expansive and exploratory territory.
The album draws on a range of collaborators. Rainy Miller contributes spoken word to ‘2674’, while Swedish sound artist Felisha Ledesma appears on ‘Guidelines’. Closing track ‘Say It Closely’ features james K, whose vocal performance brings a sense of intimacy to the record’s final moments.
Basta describes that track as a particularly personal piece. “This one feels like a quiet hymn, something whispered directly to someone you love.”
Across the album, she explores themes of vulnerability, transformation and emotional fracture. In her own words, the project emerged from a period of upheaval.
“Winged In Collapse came from a place of inner rupture, one I chose to embrace. Mourning a world growing increasingly unfamiliar, shaped by forces that feel bent on destruction, I’ve found my vulnerability becoming a resilient force within me.”
She points to the tension between opposing emotional states as a guiding principle.
“The clash of the sharp and the tender became my guide. And within the weight, I discovered there is always a glimmer: an ember, a breath, a hand held in the dark.”
New single ‘Hands Want To’ offers an early entry point into that world. The track is restrained yet evocative, unfolding slowly while drawing the listener into Basta’s distinctive sonic palette.
With Winged In Collapse, Basta continues to develop a body of work that prioritises atmosphere and emotional depth, shaping sound into something both fragile and quietly defiant.
Winged In Collapse arrives on 15th May.
