Max Winter and Lauren Auder share new collaboration ‘Things Can’t Stop’ from mixtape Like The Season

Max Winter heard a piano and thought of Lauren Auder. He reached out, they spent a year developing the track, and 'Things Can't Stop' is the result. It was time well spent.

Max Winter has shared new single ‘Things Can’t Stop’, a collaboration with Lauren Auder taken from his forthcoming mixtape Like The Season, due 21st May via Secret Friend.

The track had a long gestation. Winter heard something in the piano arrangement of the original demo that immediately brought Auder to mind, and reached out to develop the song together. “We spent several sessions over the course of a year developing the track together,” he has said.

The result is understated and precise: alt-pop with a strong melodic centre, the piano prominent throughout, Auder’s distinctive baritone vocal adding weight and texture to Winter’s own.

The collaboration arrives at a significant moment for both artists. Auder released her second album Whole World As Vigil in March to considerable acclaim, with Bandcamp calling it one of the best albums of 2026 so far and Wonderland praising her “burst in growth.”

Previous collaborators include Caroline Polachek and Celeste. Winter, meanwhile, has been building his creative network across the mixtape’s development, with previous singles ‘Candlelight’ featuring Asha Lorenz and Rael, and ‘Just’ featuring Tony Bontana, demonstrating the range of the project.

Like The Season is out 21st May via Secret Friend.
