Maxïmo Park mark 20 years of A Certain Trigger with UK tour and reissues

The Mercury-nominated album will be reissued on multiple formats, including a deluxe 3xLP edition

Maximo Park

Maxïmo Park will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut album A Certain Trigger with a run of UK headline shows in February 2026 and a set of physical reissues arriving 31st October.

The Mercury Prize-nominated record, produced by Paul Epworth and released on Warp, first landed in 2005 with singles ‘Apply Some Pressure’, ‘Graffiti’ and ‘Going Missing’. In a mid-2000s landscape soon crowded with guitar bands, Maxïmo Park stood out for their literate edge, restless energy and willingness to break from indie conventions – even their signing to Warp, better known for its experimental and electronic output, branded them as outsiders.

Two decades on, A Certain Trigger still looms large in the memories of fans and the architecture of British indie. The anniversary reissues will appear in several formats, from single LP to a 3xLP collection, with extras including Missing Songs and a Rarities & B-Sides disc featuring demos, BBC sessions and early cuts like ‘Limassol (First Avenue demo)’ and ‘Kiss You Better (Janice Long session)’.

Singer Paul Smith reflects: “Not many bands make it to a twentieth year together so we’re having a big celebration, with a special 20th anniversary tour and by giving a fresh perspective to A Certain Trigger. Our first album remains dear to so many people, and compiling archive material for the reissue has been like entering a time machine – thrilling, but also a bit scary! Happily, we think the music has more than stood the test of time.”

The 2026 tour includes a return to London’s O2 Academy Brixton, a venue closely tied to the band’s breakthrough years, and closes with a hometown show at Newcastle’s O2 City Hall.
