Bringing myself to listen to anything other than Kendrick today has been hard, so I’ve just made this week’s New Music Friday the entirety of Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. Sorry.
I kid. One established genius doesn’t do away with a host of emerging talent. Find our full round up for new music from this week below!
Still, had to get two of the Kendrick tracks in there. It’s music too good not to. You can read the full review, here, but ‘Mother I Sober’ and ‘Auntie Diaries’ are two of the best songs you’ll encounter all year, let alone this week. They could be the subject of essays, but I’ll leave it at that for now.
I really want to get my teeth properly stuck into the new Chris Keys album. His previous was one of the best of 2020 and ‘DEATHFAME’ looks quality – having listened, I already know the track with Navy Blue is. LeiKeli47’s new track ‘Chitty Bang’ is a punchy new song, while Dominican-Italian songstress YENDRY’s ‘Ki-Ki’ is catchy and different.
It seems that even on the day Florence + the Machine released her new album, the headline has been the sample featured on Kendrick’s track ‘We Cry Together’. I can’t claim to have given Dance Fever a proper listen yet, but I rate ‘Dream Girl Evil’ and the singles ahead of the project were impressive.
Post Malone and Roddy Rich’s new effort and the Black Keys’ new album complete this week’s selection!
