After making a brief appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Benedict Cumberbatch’s sorcerer returns in his own film. Directed by the legendary Sam Raimi, Doctor Strange 2 promises to be trippy and weird in the best possible way.

Firestarter

May 13th seems to be packed with not one, not two, but three very different films premiering on the same day. First up is Firestarter, starring Zac Efron. Based on a Stephen King novel about a girl who can create fire, this should be a much needed dosage of horror for those who yearn it.

Everything Everywhere All At Once

Not a blockbuster per se, but this is May’s second film featuring a multiverse! Starring Michelle Yeoh as a woman with unlikely superpowers who must fight “bizarre and bewildering dangers.” Sign us up!

Marky Mark is back! Father Stu is the Oscar-winning actor’s passion project about a man who survives a terrible motorcycle accident and finds his purpose in life as a Catholic priest. It’s based on a true story too!

Benediction / 20th May

Benediction

After such an action-heavy month, Benediction comes to us as a soothing salve. It’s a devastatingly beautiful and quiet film about the life of poet Sigfried Sassoon. Jack Lowden and Peter Capaldi star as younger and older versions of Sassoon with Terence Davies on directing duties.

Sneaking in at the end of the month is the film adaptation of the popular animated sitcom Bob’s Burgers. The film promises to be a musical and features a sinkhole, a mystery and judging by the trailer, Bob talking to a burger and the burger answering. What more could you ask for?

Top Gun Maverick / 27th May

Top Gun Maverick (1)Rounding out the month is Top Gun Maverick, starring Tom Cruise, Miles Teller and Glen Powell. The highly-anticipated sequel to the 80s classic is directed by Joseph Kosinski and it promises to provide an explosive start to the summer. We feel the need, the need for speed!
