Miso Extra, the multi-talented London-based artist, is back with her latest single ‘Slow Down,’ and it’s a tune you won’t want to miss. Known for her unique blend of club sounds and pop, Miso Extra’s work always brings something fresh and inventive to the table. Her latest offering is no exception.
This new track, rooted in UK Garage (UKG), is a personal reflection on feelings of alienation. Miso Extra drew inspiration from her solitary walks, capturing bird songs and nature sounds that made their way into the final mix. The beat, crafted by DJ Boring, sets the stage for Miso’s introspective lyrics.
“When DJ Boring first came to me with this beat I knew it was special and that we had to work together to develop this idea. This track for me evokes a feeling of exhaustive euphoria at the end of a night out, coupled with that trance-like state of desire to want to get home. When I was tracking the vocal for the song I was getting really frustrated that I wasn’t getting the delivery and intonation quite how I wanted it so much so that in one of the takes I blurted out “I didn’t get it” which eventually ended up being used as a sample on the track,” Miso shared.
The music video for ‘Slow Down’ is another collaboration with Claryn Chong, who previously worked on Miso’s ‘2nd Floor’ video. The two creatives have a special synergy, often drawing inspiration from their shared admiration for Wong Kar-Wai.
“I adore working with Claryn Chong and we frequently align with each other when it comes to visual references. When discussing the concept for this video our shared love of Wong Kar-Wai came up a lot and you can see traces of that in this video. I really love how Claryn and her team were able to find a way to visually interpret the motion of the song,” Miso mused.
