Nell Mescal has just released ‘Thin’ (Demo) today via Atlantic Records, a track that fans have been eagerly waiting for.
After teasing snippets on social media and playing the song at intimate acoustic shows, Nell decided to share it with her audience ahead of schedule. And the response? Overwhelming.
The song dives into body image and the emotional toll it can take on self-worth. Nell explains, “’Thin’ is about body image and equating what you look like to what your worth is when it comes to love. It was really tough to write and confront, as it comes from my darkest and most untrue thoughts about myself. But I want people to know that those thoughts aren’t true, and that you’re enough as you are.”
This release follows her debut EP Can I Miss It For A Minute?, a collection that explored growing up, letting go, and wrestling with the past. The EP’s cathartic singles like ‘Killing Time’ and ‘Warm Body’ sold out within hours on exclusive vinyl and CD, and it’s been a breakthrough for Nell. Fans can stream it digitally right now.
Nell’s been everywhere lately, selling out her debut New York shows, supporting Dermot Kennedy at Misneach Festival, and playing acoustic sets across the UK. This summer, she’s hitting a bunch of festivals, including supporting Robbie Williams at Come Together Festival in Newcastle on June 4th. And there’s a UK tour coming later this year. Keep an eye on tickets – they won’t last long.
“I’m so excited for what’s ahead,” Nell says. “I’ve got new music on the way, I’ll be playing festivals this summer, and I’m planning some headline shows later this year ❤️.”
Her live shows have already made a massive impact, with spots at Latitude, All Points East, and Electric Picnic, and supporting acts like HAIM, Florence & The Machine, Dermot Kennedy, and The Last Dinner Party. With press support from i-D, The New York Times, Vogue, and NME, and a Rolling Stone UK Awards nomination, Nell’s name is quickly becoming one to watch. There’s more to come, so stay tuned.
