Bath band Night Swimming have signed to Venn Records and released their new single ‘Submarine’. It was produced by Peter Miles, known for his work with Torres and Orla Gartland, and mastered by Simon Scott of Slowdive.
The single arrives with a video directed by Matthew Deeley and precedes a UK headline tour this month, followed by dates supporting Miki Berenyi of Lush.
Singer Meg Jones said ‘Submarine’ deals with loss and the disorientation that comes with it. “It’s about feeling like you’re submerged at the bottom of the ocean, unable to focus on what’s happening around you,” she explained. “It reflects on how people who have experienced loss can often recognise it in others.”
Night Swimming formed in Bath and released their debut EP No Place To Land in 2024. They have been supported by BBC 6 Music and Radio X, with coverage from NME, The Line of Best Fit, DIY, and Rough Trade.
The group – Meg Jones, Sam Allen, Jesse Roache, Josh Nottle and Torin Moore – have previously toured with Heartworms, bdrmm, Coach Party and The Orielles, and played festivals including Dot to Dot and Left of the Dial.
Their signing to Venn Records marks the next step for the band, who have been developing a sound influenced by artists such as Cocteau Twins, The Cure, and Wolf Alice.
Night Swimming headline dates in Manchester, Nottingham, London and Bristol this month before joining Miki Berenyi’s tour in Southampton and Exeter.
