Nine Inch Nails release TRON: Ares – Divergence companion album

The industrial pioneers expand their TRON: Ares universe with 20 tracks, including unreleased score material and remixes from Arca, Boys Noize and more.

Nine Inch Nails

Nine Inch Nails have released TRON: Ares – Divergence, a companion project to last year’s TRON: Ares (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), via Interscope Records.

The 20-track collection revisits the sonic world crafted for the third instalment in Disney’s TRON franchise, blending previously unreleased score material from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross with a slate of remixes from Arca, Mark Pritchard, Boys Noize, Lanark Artefax, Chilly Gonzales, Danny L Harle, Jack Dangers, Pixel Grip, Working Men’s Club, The Dare and Schwefelgelb.

The original TRON: Ares soundtrack marked the first time Nine Inch Nails delivered a film score under the band name rather than the individual credits of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. It debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Rock & Alternative Albums and Top Dance Albums charts, entered the top five of the Billboard 200 and topped the UK’s Official Soundtrack Albums Chart.

Lead single ‘As Alive As You Need Me To Be’ recently won the GRAMMY Award for Best Rock Song, signalling a return to the band’s serrated industrial core. Critics described it as a reawakening of the buzz-saw synths and percussive intensity that defined their 90s output.

TRON: Ares – Divergence reframes that material through a club-focused lens. Boys Noize contributes multiple reworks, while Arca reshapes ‘As Alive As You Need Me To Be’ into something more abstract and destabilised. The Dare and Working Men’s Club inject post-punk propulsion, and Danny L Harle steers ‘Who Wants To Live Forever?’ into hyper-melodic territory. The result is less a remix album than a parallel narrative, extending the film’s digital dystopia into late-night spaces.

The release arrives amid the band’s ongoing Peel It Back Tour, which has drawn more than 450,000 fans across Europe, the UK and North America. Recent North American dates have included Washington, DC, Boston, Montreal and Las Vegas, with the current run concluding on 16th March 2026 in Sacramento.

Founded in 1988, Nine Inch Nails have sold over 20 million records worldwide and were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2020. Reznor and Ross have also won two Academy Awards, three Golden Globes and multiple GRAMMYs for their film work.

TRON: Ares – Divergence is available digitally now, with 2LP vinyl and CD editions available to pre-order.
