Oasis Guitarist Bonehead Diagnosed With Cancer

Former Oasis guitarist Paul Arthurs has announced he has been diagnosed with tonsil cancer.

Former Oasis guitarist Paul Arthurs has announced he has been diagnosed with tonsil cancer.


Nicknamed Bonehead, the musician has also revealed in a statement on Twitter that he’s pulled out of forthcoming gigs with Liam Gallagher as a result of the diagnosis.

“Just to let you all know I’m going to be taking a break from playing for a while,” he said in a message. “I’ve been diagnosed with tonsil cancer, but the good news is it’s treatable and I’ll be starting a course of treatment soon.

“I’ll keep you posted how it’s going, I’m gutted I’m missing the gigs with Liam and the band. Have the best summer and enjoy the gigs if you’re going, I’ll see you soon xxx.”

Arthurs was one of the founding members of Oasis, playing on a number of the band’s most well-known albums, including the debut ‘Definitely Maybe’, ‘What’s The Story (Morning Glory)’ and ‘Be Here Now’.

After leaving Oasis in 1999, Arthurs would later rejoin Liam Gallagher for his Beady Eye project.

In response to the news, Liam Gallagher has said he is “Sending BIG love to the 1 n only Bonehead and his family wishing you a speedy recovery we’re all thinking of you.”

Andy Bell, another former Oasis member, also Tweeted, saying: “Get well soon Bone.”
