Oscar Farrell has shared ‘So Far South’, the title track from his forthcoming EP, out 5th September. The release will be marked with a headline show at The Glove That Fits in London the same day.
Built around a propulsive bass kick and scattered vocal textures, ‘So Far South’ feels both intimate and expansive, music that works as easily in solitary moments as it does in the middle of a packed dance floor. Farrell has been developing a reputation for house and electronic productions that carry emotional weight, and the new single underlines that approach.
The track arrives after ‘Dream Therapy’, his recent collaboration with Sampha, and a summer that included standout sets at Glastonbury alongside Joy (Anonymous), Lil Silva and Sampha, as well as dh2’s first anniversary party at Phonox. Directed by Pablo Gallegos, the accompanying visual for ‘So Far South’ adds another layer of introspection to the track.
The EP, released via George Daniel’s dh2 label, also features the tracks ‘Timers’, ‘Orbits’ and ‘I Need U’. Farrell has been closely tied to dh2’s growing identity, appearing alongside labelmates Kelly Lee Owens, Surusinghe and Bodhi. His monthly residency on Rinse FM, launched in June, has further cemented his profile, with each show blending deep influences, unreleased cuts and left-field selections into a snapshot of his sound.
With So Far South, Farrell continues to carve out a space for electronic music that looks inward as much as outward, finding emotion in the pulse of the club.
