Birmingham’s indie darlings Overpass are making major moves as they announce their signing to Communion Records, alongside a fresh single ‘Be Good To Yourself’, taken from their forthcoming EP Dependent, which drops on 28th February 2025.
The single comes as the band prepares to embark on a headline tour in spring 2025, including shows at London’s Scala and a hometown gig at Birmingham’s O2 Institute. With tickets on sale tomorrow at 10am, fans will have to act fast to grab a spot.
Be Good To Yourself delivers the signature Overpass punch – anthemic guitars paired with raw, heartfelt lyrics courtesy of frontman Max Newy. It’s an ode to self-care and resilience, something the band touches on frequently. As they explain, “This song is about self-love and going easy on yourself when the world seems chaotic… but the main underlying thing is there’s hope when you seek out for it and putting trust in yourself even if your head tells you otherwise.”
The band’s upcoming EP, Dependent, builds on this introspective journey. Overpass describe it as “a journey of growing up and figuring things out… capturing the highs and lows of young adulthood.” It’s their second EP, a project where the band has pushed their sonic boundaries, experimenting more in the studio and refining their sound. “It reflects where we are as a band in 2024, and we couldn’t be more excited to get it out into the world,” they add.

After a whirlwind start to 2024 with their debut EP From the Night and a string of sold-out headline shows, Overpass continue to gain momentum. Earlier this year, they impressed crowds at The Great Escape in Brighton and shared stages with big names like Inhaler and Two Door Cinema Club.
Overpass – Max Newy (vocals), India Armstrong (bass), Elliot Rawlings (guitar), and Jake Bishop (drums) – formed out of a shared love for arena-sized indie rock. With sold-out shows and a rapidly growing fanbase, they’ve become one of the most exciting acts to emerge from the Midlands in years.
Catch Overpass live on their 2025 headline tour and experience their anthemic indie magic up close.
