McCartney: A Life in Lyrics will be available weekly from 20 September, available on all podcast platforms. It follows the legendary singer-songwriter and Muldoon’s previous collaboration: the best-selling book The Lyrics: 1956 to the Present. The process of writing that book led to more than 50 hours of recorded conversations between the pair, which established the backbone for the new series. “When we listened back to the tapes,” Muldoon explains in the prologue episode, “we realised there was something very special happening in these conversations. It was McCartney unfiltered.” Each episode in the new series will hone-in on one particular Macca number, with the 12 episodes of Season 1 set to explore the likes of ‘Eleanor Rigby’, ‘Let It Be’ and ‘Helter Skelter’ – from the creative process, to the people and experiences that inspired each track. Season 2 will commence in February of next year with a further 12 episodes. The series has been co-produced by Pushkin Industries and iHeartPodcasts, with Pushkin+ subscribers able to listen to the entire season from the first day of release. And if you’re a fan of your podcasts, you’ll love the fact whynow have joined forces with Verbal Diorama to launch the inaugural Independent Podcast Awards. The awards are now closed for entry, and we’ll be celebrating the winners in a ceremony on 12 October at The Phoenix Arts Club.
