Peter Cat Recording Co., the ever-evolving, genre-bending band from India, have announced their new album, Beta, set for release on 9th August via Muddy Water. The album captures the personal evolution of the band members, exploring themes of transformation through a combination of indie, bossa nova, jazz, and psychedelic influences.
The band notes, “Beta is a collection of stories about the future told 50 years in the past, to make sense of the present, on our only home, planet Earth.” The album was produced by Suryakant Sawhney, Kartik Pillai, Dhruv Bhola, and Peter Cat Recording Co.
Alongside the album announcement, the band has released the lead single, ‘People Never Change’. You can listen to it here.
Peter Cat Recording Co. have also revealed a massive 77-date tour, featuring both headline shows and support dates with Khruangbin. The tour will kick off in August in the US, before heading to the UK in November, where they will headline London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire on 26th November. It concludes with a six-date run in India, ending on 28th December in Bangalore. You can find out more on their website.

Peter Cat Recording Co. was formed in 2010 and has since transcended genres, capturing audiences with their unique sound. The band consists of Suryakant Sawhney on vocals and guitars, Karan Singh on drums, Dhruv Bhola on bass and samples, Rohit Gupta on keys and trumpet, and Kartik Sundareshan on guitars and trumpet. Their music, imagined as a radio station from the future or a vinyl from the past, lives in its own universe.
The band has gained a loyal global following with their critically acclaimed albums, Portrait of a Time and Bismillah, and has performed sold-out tours across North America, the UK, Europe, Australia, and India. The forthcoming album, Beta, promises to continue their tradition of innovative and genre-defying music.
