Amsterdam trio Pip Blom have announced their new EP Grip, due 6th June, alongside a string of intimate ‘Club Grip’ shows across the UK and the Netherlands. The announcement lands with new single ‘Ring’, the first track from the EP.

Building on the synth-led shift of their last album Bobbie, Grip sees the band doubling down on dancefloor textures while keeping their distinctive melodic instincts intact. “We slowly started to incorporate more dance elements into our songs,” said Pip. “It started subtle with Bobbie, and now with this EP it has been a priority.”

Written and recorded entirely in their home studio by Pip Blom, Tender Blom, and Darek Mercks, Grip is their first fully independent release following a run with Heavenly Recordings. It also marks a significant step forward for Pip as a producer, working alongside Grammy-winning mixer Claudius Mittendorfer.

New single ‘Ring’ brings in glitchy synths, submerged textures and Blom’s introspective vocal delivery. Thematically, the EP is grounded in a year of personal upheaval. “I’ve had a pretty rough year with lots of difficult events in my private life happening,” she explained. “And throughout this period I started to notice how much I craved to find some sort of grip.”

The five-track EP captures that tension – between control and chaos, romance and uncertainty – and will be performed live in a set of six intimate shows, dubbed ‘Club Grip’, this July.
