Emerging alt artist Ratbag has released the third episode of her innovative live performance series, Why Aren’t You Laughing?, featuring a live rendition of the track ‘Exit Girl’ from her debut EP (tune in here). The performance, set in Eugene’s Junkyard, continues to showcase Ratbag’s unique blend of music and theatrics.
Each episode of the series delves into the “natural habitat” of one of her “monstrous” bandmates, combining elements of music, art, and performance to create a distinctively immersive experience. This latest episode follows previous performances set in Slug’s Grove and Deemo’s Cave, with tracks ‘Rot in Love’ and debut single ‘Rats in My Walls’ respectively.
The series is set to conclude with a final episode on the 27th of May, which will reveal the residence of her last bandmate, Fritz. Ratbag’s approach has captured attention for its originality and depth, blending punk energy, indie-folk instrumentals, and dramatic visual art.
Since her debut last year, Ratbag has quickly gained a global following, with critical acclaim for her unique artistic vision that “bleeds beyond the sonic realm”, according to The Line of Best Fit. Her work has been featured across major music platforms and media including Zane Lowe’s show, BBC Radio 6 Music, and NME.
The Why Aren’t You Laughing? EP includes tracks ‘Dead End Kids’, ‘Exit Girl’, ‘Rot in Love’, and ‘Rats in My Walls’, all of which demonstrate Ratbag’s capability to intertwine her music with a theatrical flair.
