Shame announce new album Cutthroat, out 5th September via Dead Oceans, and share title track video.

Cutthroat Shame

Shame have announced their fourth album, Cutthroat, due out on 5th September. The South London band also shared the title track, accompanied by a video directed by Ja Humby, featuring frontman Charlie Steen performing inside a motorcycle wall of death.

Produced by John Congleton, Cutthroat is described by the band as a “joyride” that reflects their raw and confrontational live performances. Steen cites Oscar Wilde as an influence, particularly the idea from Lady Windermere’s Fan that “Life’s far too important to be taken seriously.”

The album follows 2023’s Food for Worms and continues the band’s exploration of post-punk themes with a blend of electronic elements. Guitarist Sean Coyle-Smith noted that incorporating electronic loops into their music allowed for new creative directions.

Shame will perform Cutthroat in full at a sold-out show at Brixton Jamm on 4th June, followed by an extensive tour across Europe and the UK later this year.
