Simple Minds will release their new album, Sacrosanct, on January 29th.
The Scottish band spent 2025 on the road, playing some of their biggest live shows since 1985 as part of a full global tour. That energy carried directly into the studio, shaping Sacrosanct into a return-to-roots record fuelled by their live sound and grounded in the band’s new wave and art-rock beginnings.
Frontman Jim Kerr has said the album’s title reflects how the band’s relationship to their own work has changed after nearly fifty years together, explaining that it’s “stopped feeling like a career and started feeling like something closer to faith.” Sacrosanct completes a trilogy alongside recent albums Walk Between Worlds and Direction of the Heart.
Lead single ‘Beginner Boys’ was inspired by Kerr watching his twin grandsons grow up, and reflects on what it means to be a man today, how strength, tenderness, courage and gentleness might still coexist despite mixed cultural signals. Kerr has described it less as a statement than a question he hopes his grandsons will spend their lives answering for themselves.
Sacrosanct tracklist:
- Elysium
- King of the Underworld
- Beginner Boys
- Jerusalem (State of Mind)
- Our Secrets Are the Same

- Alive in This Moment

Sacrosanct is out January 29th.
