The Boxer Rebellion have returned with new single ‘Hidden Meanings’, marking their first new material in several years.
The London-based four-piece are preparing to release their first studio album since 2018. Titled The Second I’m Asleep, the record is set for release on 27th March and features ten new songs, drawing on the band’s long-standing command of emotionally direct, guitar-led songwriting.
‘Hidden Meanings’ offers a clear entry point into this next chapter. Built around a broad, patient arrangement, the song unfolds with restraint before rising toward a quietly forceful conclusion. Lyrically, it centres on the process of letting go, with frontman Nathan Nicholson reflecting on emotional closure rather than confrontation.
The track turns on the line “I no longer wish you dead”, a moment that frames the song’s movement away from old grievances and towards something more resolved.
Alongside the release, The Boxer Rebellion have confirmed a short UK headline tour this spring, bringing the new material to intimate venues across the country.
