The Hives have unveiled ‘Paint A Picture’, the second single from their upcoming album The Hives Forever Forever The Hives, due 29th August.

The track made its debut during a recent performance on Later… with Jools Holland and comes paired with a pop‑art‑style video directed by Filip Nilsson and Henry Moore Selder, featuring the band performing in a comic‑book world.

Musically, the single sticks to familiar ground: sharp, fuzz‑driven guitars with punchy choruses, but it carries a reflective edge. The band themselves say it’s “A song about trying to convince people and yourself that living outside of society is a good idea. This song has been a fan favourite for ages among the lucky few who have heard it in concert.”

It arrives two months after lead single ‘Enough Is Enough’, which marked the start of the album campaign in April. That track also teased Mike D of Beastie Boys and Josh Homme’s involvement, which continues here, with both co‑producing alongside Pelle Gunnerfeldt and Homme again contributing.

The Hives will hit the road on their global tour from 17th July in Australia, with UK dates running in November and wrapping in Stockholm in December. For fans keen on tight riff‑fuelled rock and the band’s trademark energy, the new single is a promising sign of more to come.
