The Itch have announced their debut album It’s The Hope That Kills You, set for release on 10th April via Fiction Records and I OH YOU.
Made up of Simon and Georgia, The Itch have quickly built a reputation for twisting club culture into something witty, abrasive, and hard to pin down. Their sound pulls from early-2000s indie-disco and late-night electronics, but never settles into nostalgia, always pushing towards something messier and more contemporary.
Their rise has been fuelled by live shows. A debut headline date in 2024 sold out within a day, while a packed night at South London’s Corsica Studios helped turn them into a word-of-mouth obsession. An after-hours set at The Great Escape went one step further, reportedly drawing an hour-long queue and becoming a minor piece of festival lore.
The duo have taken their time with the album, fine-tuning every detail. It’s The Hope That Kills You brings together previously released material, including the glistening dance-pop cut ‘Space in the Cab’ and their seven-minute debut ‘Ursula’, alongside new tracks that lean fully into their club-facing instincts.
Latest single ‘Aux Romanticiser’ is both a skewering and celebration of nightlife excess. Drawing on samples from the viral web series Subway Takes and Pearson Sound’s ‘WAD’, the track captures the absurdities of London after-hours culture with a grin firmly in place. Over a sweaty, club-driven beat, Simon deadpans: “You don’t need to know how to crossfade / Just stick it in your phone and play some Beyoncé…”
It’s a sharp, self-aware snapshot of dancefloor life, and a strong indication of where The Itch are heading with their debut.
