The Lemon Twigs have announced their new album Look For Your Mind!.
Due for release on 8th May via Captured Tracks, the record marks the sixth studio album from the Long Island duo of brothers Brian and Michael D’Addario, continuing a prolific run that has seen the pair refine their distinctive take on classic pop songwriting.
The announcement arrives alongside the album’s lead single, ‘I Just Can’t Get Over Losing You’, accompanied by a new video. Built around bright, ringing guitars and buoyant melodies, the track initially nods to the band’s well-documented love of 1960s pop, before taking a series of unexpected turns. A sudden bridge interrupts the structure, the chorus is abruptly shortened, and layered harmonies between Brian and guest vocalist Eva Chambers push the song towards an exuberant climax.
That sense of unpredictability has become central to the band’s identity. As Brian explains, even their most straightforward ideas tend to veer somewhere unusual. “Every time we try to write something that’s completely straightforward, we can’t help adding an element which comes out of left field. We always want to write a song we’ve never heard before.”
Beneath its polished pop exterior, Look For Your Mind! carries a more uneasy undercurrent. The album’s title hints at themes of confusion and uncertainty in an increasingly chaotic world. “I do think that now is a time of insanity,” Brian reflects. “You really have to hold onto your own mind if you don’t wanna lose it.”
For the first time, the D’Addario brothers also broadened their studio lineup. Long-time live members Reza Matin on drums and Danny Ayala on bass appear throughout the album, alongside Chambers of Tchotchke. Previously, Brian and Michael handled nearly every instrument themselves, so the expanded lineup marks a new sense of openness in the recording process.
The album follows a particularly fertile period for the band. Their previous two records, Everything Harmony in 2023 and A Dream Is All We Know in 2024, were widely praised for their intricate songwriting and increasingly confident production. Reflecting on that period, Michael has described it as the point where the group began making records they would genuinely return to themselves.
With Look For Your Mind!, the band build on that foundation while pushing their sound further. The songs remain rooted in classic melody and harmony, but the structures twist and bend in unexpected ways, reflecting a group that continues to treat pop songwriting as something elastic rather than fixed.
Alongside the album announcement, The Lemon Twigs have also confirmed a run of UK and Ireland dates this spring.
