The Maccabees have announced a run of UK and Ireland headline dates for August, marking their first tour since 2015 and building on the momentum of their upcoming return at All Points East.

The newly announced shows include stops at Dublin’s Academy, Glasgow Barrowlands, Manchester’s O2 Victoria Warehouse, and a headline slot at All Points East in London on 24th August. Tickets go on general sale at 9am on Friday 11th April, with a pre-sale opening two days earlier via the band’s website.

“None of us thought we’d ever play shows again anywhere,” guitarist Felix White said. “Hopefully the whole tour will have a real sense of something precious about it.”

The news follows the band’s reunion announcement in March, which sparked a wave of excitement from fans and media alike. The initial reaction – rapid ticket sales and an outpouring of goodwill – seems to have confirmed what many suspected: people really did miss The Maccabees.

Their farewell in 2017 was unusually resolute, with each member moving on to other projects – including solo records, production work, books, art, and broadcasting. But their paths began to cross again in 2020 at guitarist Hugo White’s wedding, where the idea of playing one song together snowballed into something more meaningful. There were no grand reunion plans at the time, but the moment planted a seed. When lockdown followed shortly after, the pull of friendship and music only deepened.

For now, this short run of shows appears to be about reconnecting – with each other and with the fans. “Will there be more chapters in their future?” the band muses. “Maybe, maybe not.”
