The Pretenders announce UK headline tour

The Pretenders have announced a headline theatre tour across the UK, kicking-off in February next year.

Pretenders Relentless review

The run of dates will begin at Gateshead’s The Glasshouse and be comprised of shows at Edinburgh’s Usher Hall and London’s Palladium before concluding at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall.

In total, the tour will take in nine shows, and tickets go on sale from 10am on Friday, 10 November 2023 – visit the band’s site for more information and to buy.

The news follows five sold-out club gigs performed through October at London’s Electric Ballroom, Manchester’s O2 Ritz and Glasgow’s Barrowlands, as well as a pretty special slot at Glastonbury in which they brought out ex-member Johnny Marr and Dave Grohl.

These shows added to what’s been a busy year on the road for The Pretenders, with over 60 gigs across the UK, US and Europe under their belts in 2023 alone.

Chrissie Hynde and co. also, of course, recently released their terrific recent Relentless LP – their 12th studio album and highest-charting record in 23 years.

In our four-star review of the album, whynow wrote: “Relentless is one of Pretenders’ strongest albums in some time; now in their sixth decade, they still have plenty of ambition and drive left. For all the riffs and rock elements we’ve come to appreciate over the years, it’s how well Chrissie Hynde’s vocals have held up that’s one of the record’s true strengths.

“Likewise, a string-led closing track may not be expected but it’s one of the album’s standouts. The departure from convention makes this a constantly exciting album and is a reminder of why Pretenders have stood the test of time.”
